Intent

At Rosehill Infant and Nursery School, we believe that music is a powerful tool for communication, creativity and belonging. We aim to provide an inclusive, high-quality music education that enables every child to develop confidence, self-expression and a lifelong love of music. Our diverse school community, where many children speak English as an Additional Language and over 30 languages are spoken, makes music an essential means of communication and connection.

Our music curriculum is designed to:

• Inspire all children to become confident and enthusiastic musicians.
• Develop children's musical knowledge, skills and understanding through singing, listening, composing, improvising and performing.
• Foster creativity, communication and emotional wellbeing.

• Provide rich cultural experiences that broaden children's understanding of the world and raise aspirations.
• Ensure all children, regardless of background, need or starting point, can access and enjoy music.
