Our broad and balanced curriculum enables our pupils to explore a wide range of media and materials, as well as providing opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design and technology.
Art and design are an important part of the school curriculum enabling pupils to express themselves creatively. We aim to encourage enthusiasm and enable pupils to produce lively and expressive work using a range of art, craft and design materials and processes. We develop the children’s understanding and appreciation of art, artists, and designers work. We further the children’s understanding of colour, form, texture, pattern, line, shape and space, and help them to make thoughtful judgements and practical decisions to enable them to become involved in shaping their environment.
Design and Technology encourage creative thinking, problem solving, enthusiasm as well as team work. Exciting and stimulating learning experiences inspire our pupils!
Through the music curriculum we inspire and encourage every child to explore and communicate through music. It is taught through class music lessons, collective singing practice and focused sessions. Our pupils enjoy performing to a wide range audiences and last years Creative Carnival was a huge success!
Each week there is a whole school singing assembly, where we share a range of songs with Mr Jordan.
This is what the children had to say about their experience of making a wooden toy:
' I am enjoying it because I am making it myself.'
'I like making things.'
'I get to make a toy.'
' I loved making my toy because in the end, I get to play with it.'
