How we Support Families

At Rosehill Infant and Nursery School, we believe that children thrive when the important adults in their lives work together. Parents and carers know their children best, and we value the knowledge, experiences and perspectives that families bring to our school community.

Strong partnerships between home and school help children feel safe, secure, confident and ready to learn. By working together, sharing information and celebrating successes, we can ensure that every child receives the support they need to flourish.

Working Together

Our partnership with families helps us to:

  • Understand children's individual strengths, interests and needs.
  • Support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships that help children feel safe and secure.
  • Share important information that may affect a child's learning or wellbeing.
  • Develop consistent approaches between home and school.
  • Support smooth transitions between Nursery, Reception and beyond.
  • Identify and remove barriers to learning.
  • Ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.

We know that strong relationships are built through everyday conversations and shared experiences. A friendly chat at the classroom door can often make a big difference.

Communication

Open and honest communication is at the heart of our relationship with families.

We encourage parents and carers to speak to us about anything that may affect their child, whether it is something they are celebrating, a question they have or a concern they would like to discuss.

For longer conversations, appointments can be arranged with:

  • Your child's class teacher
  • A member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Our SENDCo
  • Our Family Support Team

The information families share helps us better understand children's experiences and provide the most appropriate support.

Keeping Families Informed

We want families to feel connected to school and involved in their child's learning journey.

Class Dojo is our main communication platform and is used to share:

  • School news and updates
  • Important reminders
  • Class learning and celebrations
  • Events and activities
  • Messages from school

We ask all families to ensure they have access to Class Dojo and check it regularly.

Information is also shared through newsletters, the school website and school events throughout the year.

Attendance: Working Together

Regular attendance is a vital part of children's learning, wellbeing and development.

We understand that there can be a range of reasons why attendance may become a concern, and we are committed to working alongside families to find supportive solutions.

Parents and carers will be kept informed about their child's attendance throughout the year. Where concerns arise, we may contact families through:

  • Telephone calls
  • Letters
  • Attendance meetings
  • Support from our Family Support Team

Our approach is based on understanding, support and partnership. We aim to identify any barriers to attendance and work together to help children attend school regularly and enjoy all the opportunities school has to offer.

Sharing Children's Learning and Progress

Parents and carers play a key role in understanding and celebrating their child's achievements.

Throughout the year, families will have opportunities to discuss their child's learning, development and wellbeing through:

  • Parent consultation meetings
  • Stay and Learn sessions
  • Curriculum workshops
  • Annual written reports

We encourage families to share their own observations, achievements from home and aspirations for their child.

Being Part of School Life

We love welcoming families into school and providing opportunities to be involved in school life.

Throughout the year, parents and carers may be invited to participate in:

  • Stay and Play sessions
  • Open mornings
  • Curriculum workshops
  • Family learning events
  • School performances and celebrations
  • Community events

These opportunities help strengthen relationships between home and school and allow families to share in their child's experiences.

Learning Together

We are committed to supporting the whole family.

Our Family Support Team works closely with parents and carers to provide advice, guidance and opportunities for learning and personal development.

Opportunities may include:

  • Parenting workshops
  • Family learning sessions
  • Wellbeing support
  • ESOL classes
  • Adult learning courses
  • Volunteer training opportunities

We are proud to work with external partners to help families access training, qualifications and support that can build confidence and create future opportunities.

Your Voice Matters

We believe that parents and carers should have a voice in the life and development of our school.

We regularly seek feedback through:

  • Parent questionnaires
  • Surveys
  • Informal conversations
  • Parent forums
  • Drop-in sessions

We value all feedback and use it to help us improve our provision and strengthen our partnership with families.

A Partnership Built on Relationships

At Rosehill Infant and Nursery School, we want every family to feel welcomed, valued and respected.

Being a parent partner is not about getting everything right. It is about working together with trust, kindness and open communication to help every child feel happy, safe and successful.

Together We Are Amazing, Together We Shine. ✨
